Who is acting?

Joint sanitation coordination group proposed for the Valle de La Orotava

Asamblea Ciudadana Portuense has proposed creating a joint sanitation coordination group involving Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Los Realejos and Santa Úrsula to coordinate assessments, needs and actions related to the regional wastewater system.

The proposal calls for stronger coordination between municipalities and closer monitoring of sanitation infrastructure and water quality. It is a civil society initiative and has not been approved as an official government programme.

New Valle de La Orotava treatment plant put out to tender

The Cabildo launched the tender for the new Valle de La Orotava wastewater treatment plant. The first phase is designed for approximately 10,000 cubic metres per day and more than 100,000 people.

This infrastructure action does not in itself imply any change in current bathing-water quality.

Valle de La Orotava main sanitation collectors reach final construction phase

Construction of the main Valle de La Orotava sanitation collectors reached an advanced stage, including works associated with the Cuesta de la Villa pumping station and the infrastructure needed to convey wastewater toward the regional treatment system.

Valle de La Orotava wastewater system designed to substantially increase treatment capacity

The planned Valle de La Orotava wastewater system was designed to significantly increase regional treatment capacity. Main collectors in La Orotava and Los Realejos were already under construction and the first treatment-plant phase was designed for around 10,000 cubic metres per day.
