Sanitation recommendations and debate over sand replenishment
AECCM proposes a coordinated response including sanitation, wastewater evacuation, environmental protection and resident participation. These are recommendations, not funded works. Coalición Canaria argues that comprehensive recovery and experimental replenishment with volcanic sand from La Palma could be compatible; the sources consulted do not establish that compatibility as settled.

Council backs prioritising the comprehensive project
According to Diario de Avisos, the council unanimously supported prioritising the project technically approved in January 2023, still awaiting environmental evaluation. The agreement opposes independent sand replenishment that could compromise, interfere with or delay definitive recovery. It does not establish that works have started.

The Cabildo is carrying out main sewer collectors between La Candelaria and the future EBAR 4 Icod Este pumping station. The works complete a strategic section of the district network used to carry wastewater towards the treatment system.

Major state-backed Tenerife sanitation programme expanded
The wider Tenerife sanitation programme was expanded to cover major regional systems including Arona Este, Tenerife Oeste, Acentejo, Granadilla and Valle de La Orotava, together with further works in Puerto de la Cruz and future infrastructure in Isla Baja.

New EU court action includes numerous Tenerife wastewater agglomerations
A new action brought by the European Commission before the Court of Justice covers numerous agglomerations in Tenerife for possible failures to meet obligations on the collection and treatment of urban waste water. The agglomerations cited include Buenavista del Norte, El Sauzal, Garachico-La Caleta, Icod de los Vinos, La Matanza, La Victoria, Las Galletas-Las Rosas, Radazul, San Miguel, Tabaiba, Tamaimo and Valle San Lorenzo.
The list of agglomerations cited is not necessarily complete. A pending procedure does not by itself mean a beach is closed or that a specific point is currently polluted.
